An Introduction
In 1984 Lejair introduced, into the UK, a safe and efficient method of training hang glider pilots based upon winch towing from a flatland site. Our tow system quickly proved itself to be highly productive, with many advantages for our students over the more traditional hill training methods. Having successfully trained hundreds of pilots, logged thousands of flying hours and hundreds of thousands of launches, Lejair is, probably, one of the most experienced tow centres on the planet.

With our own, dedicated, flat, grassed airfields we are able to avoid problems with crops, livestock and multi use public access sites. Additionally, our flatland airfields allow us to launch in any wind direction as well as through a wider range of wind strengths than other methods of training normally allow.
During the initial low level flights that students undertake, our tow system enables Lejair's highly experienced instructors to remain in full control of all stages of each flight. Never being more than a few feet away from the student during takeoff, flight and landing allows us to provide instant instruction, encouragement and advice to a student. Such supervision permits our students to quickly and safely gain the skills and confidence necessary to progress.
With no need to carry heavy hang gliders up and down hills after each flight and always being close to our on site facilities, we are sure you will find training with Lejair less strenuous, more productive and a great deal more fun.
